Our mantra is “Start at Love.” At Darn Good Yarn, we want everything we do to be rooted in love and compassion for people and the planet. We are striving to create a better world by caring and doing things the slightly harder way. In a world of short-cuts, we believe in slowing down to build sustainable systems and stronger communities.
Our Actions
We support sustainable and fair jobs around the world through ethical sourcing and working with producers who share our values. We partner with artisan cooperatives to provide safe, sustainable and dignified jobs with fair wages to marginalized groups in India and Nepal. We make sure our warehousing and distribution models provide safe employment to disadvantaged populations, including adults with developmental disabilities.
There’s only one earth, and we focus on sourcing products with reclaimed or recycled elements whenever we can -- like our bestseller, the sari wrap skirt, which is made from recycled silk saris.
In 14 years of business, we have saved more than 1.2 million pounds of material waste and have helped create hundreds of sustainable jobs. We’re proud of this, and we’re grateful for our customers who have helped us create a vibrant crafting community while supporting our values.
